So You Want to Farm in Sooke
More people in the Sooke area are getting growing, whether it be produce, herbs, livestock, seeds or grain. If an old-time farmer in Sooke wanted to support a new grower, they’d sit them down, pour a cup of tea and share their stories and teachings. What they’ve grown, how they’ve done it, where they get supplies, who they sell to and many other tidbits accumulated from years of experience. With this resource book we’ve tried to gather this information together in one place to share with our community. Drawn from people who have farmed in the area, and many great resources local, regional, provincial and national, this is our launching pad for building a living ‘how to farm’ guide for Sooke. It’s by no means complete and will be ever evolving and changing. Let us know what you’d like to see in it and what knowledge you have to share.
