Saturday Apple Pressing Days
Make your own apple juice!
When: Saturdays, September 28, October 12 and 26 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Where: Sunriver Community Gardens, 2380 Phillips Road, Sooke, by the gazebo
By Donation: donations will be used for the Apple Press maintenance
Do you have apples that you are wondering what to do with? You can make your own cold-pressed organic apple juice.
Sooke Region Food CHI’s apple press is available on the days listed above. Volunteers will show you how to use the press and get you started making your own apple juice. Bring at least 15 pounds of apples and your containers. Apples should be mature, washed, and must be free from decay. Containers should be wide mouthed with tight lids.
Bring a cooler to store your juice until you get home. Once you get home, the easiest way to keep the apple juice, is to freeze the juice.
Did you know? Apple juice contains vitamin A, C and B6 and includes important minerals like calcium, potassium, phosphorous, magnesium, and iron.
Rent the Apple Press
