Make Your Own Apple Juice
Do you have apples that you are wondering what to do with? You can now make your own cold-pressed organic apple juice.
Sooke Region Food CHI’s new apple press is available each Saturday until October 28. Bring at least 15 pounds of apples and your containers. Apples should be mature, washed, and must be free from decay. Containers should be wide mouthed with tight lids.
Bring a cooler to store your juice until you get home. Once you get home, the easiest way to keep the apple juice, is to freeze the juice.
Apple juice contains vitamin A, C and B6 and includes important minerals like calcium, potassium, phosphorous, magnesium, and iron.
Sooke Region Food CHI purchased the hand-powered apple press from funds raised from our Apple Festival events.
When: Saturdays, September 23 to October 28, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Where: Sunriver Community Gardens, 2380 Phillips Road, Sooke, by the gazebo
By Donation: donations will be used for the Apple Press maintenance
